CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is a plant compound of cannabis plants. It can be found in hemp or the marijuana plants that both make up the cannabis plant family. Plant compounds are commonly referred to as ‘phytocompounds’ which means the same thing.
CBD oil from hemp plants has had THC removed from it, except for trace amounts in some cases. This means that CBD is not psychoactive in the way that THC is. THC is tetrahydrocannabinol, a cannabinoid that is psychoactive and responsible for the high that marijuana users feel when they use it. There is no such a high from CBD.
CBD has no negative side-effects and will not cause addiction. In fact, one of the many uses for CBD has been its effectiveness in breaking the cycle of addiction for those who wish to quit smoking. Research is also showing that CBD can help stop the addiction of drugs such as heroin or opioids.
The popularity of CBD oil as of late is due to the wording of the 2018 Farm Bill, which made possession of hemp products legal. The cannabis industry immediately capitalized on this wording by making and selling more CBD oil than ever and declaring it legal as per the Farm Bill Act of 2018.
So far, this hasn’t been challenged and in the few cases where charges have been filed for possession of products, the charges have been dropped. No one seems willing to challenge the act and many municipalities have written local ordinances specifically allow for the sale of CBD within their cities.
Being Non-Addictive Has Created Its Market
The fact that CBD oil is not addictive has made it more accessible to people from all walks of life. The fact that it can be sold is due entirely to the fact that THC may only exist in amounts less than .03% in CBD that is marketed to the public.
This allows for easy access and because CBD is effective for so many chronic conditions, illnesses and pain, it has a reputation that has quickly spread. People are only too willing to speak about their experiences with CBD in a positive nature. Parents of children with Epilepsy were one of the first groups to begin becoming vocal about the wonders of CBD oil.
These parents were so vocal, in fact, that the science community paid attention and much research ultimately led to the formalization of the first FDA-approved drug for Epilepsy, called Epidiolex. This is still only prescribed to patients when every other option has been exhausted and the seizures are still not controlled.
The results have been amazing. There are many other research programs being conducted right now. There is hope that CBD will assist in cancer research for cures, as well as hundreds of other chronic conditions and illnesses.
Those who are afflicted with Fibromyalgia, MS, diabetes, ADHD, Muscular Dystrophy, Crohn’s disease and much more are all benefiting from the use of CBD oil right now and may find relief in the form of medications formulated with it in the future.
Little to No Side Effects
CBD users enjoy being able to use this product with no damage to their body in the process. CBD Is a plant-derived product. In order to create it in a working solution for consumption, it is added to oils that act as a suspension fluid of sorts. You can obtain CBD as a powder, known as CBD isolate.
The oil that the CBD is mixed with is typically an MCT oil or could be any other oil suitable for consumption, even olive oil.
If you take too much of the CBD oil at first before your body has the chance to get used to it, you may face some diarrhea. There are no other bad side-effects from CBD at all and many, even the elderly, are finding pain relief from arthritis with it.
Other than this and some secondary symptoms from diarrhea such as headache or stomach pain, there are no other issues with CBD. You may take it without concerns of toxicity or damage to your body.
You’ll not suffer from kidney failure, stomach lining damage, indigestion or other irritating or even potentially fatal side-effects that come with some many other medical treatments today.
